The work is intended as an introduction to the subject for the newcomer as well as a reference text for the horological expert. Based on engravings from over 1,000 backplate images, the text focuses on the design patterns and imagery from the advent of the pendulum clock until the close of the 18th century. Heavily illustrated with images generously provided by experts in British horology, Engraving on English Table Clocks provides a systematic approach to “reading” engraving patterns on English spring clocks.
